I odon't know if you ever checked this or not but Rex's blues is way off.  
It is actually played with a capo at the 2nd fret.  So the chords would 
be C, then F.

When playing the F use thumb for bass note and 3 fingers to form 
just the triad.  That way you have the extra finger for hammerons
just like Townes played it on Live At old quarter.

Your pinky does lots of the wok for this song.  But once you get it 
its worth it.
